Is my settlement agreement fair?
A calculator alone cannot decide whether a settlement agreement is fair. The amount offered is only part of the picture: your circumstances, potential claims and the terms you are being asked to accept also matter. Our settlement agreement solicitors can review your offer and advise whether there is scope to negotiate.
How much should I receive in a settlement agreement?
There is no single amount that suits every employee. Your salary, notice period, unused holiday, length of service, reason for leaving and prospects of finding another job can all inform a review of the offer. Use the calculator above for an illustrative range, then discuss your circumstances with us for individual advice. The illustration is not a guaranteed payment or a valuation of any legal claim.
Is my settlement agreement reasonable?
To assess whether an offer is reasonable, consider the proposed payment alongside the agreement as a whole. A review can address the reference, confidentiality terms, restrictions, payment conditions and the claims you would be settling. A figure within the calculator range does not, by itself, show that the offer is reasonable.
Can I negotiate a higher settlement agreement offer?
There may be scope to negotiate the payment or other terms, depending on your circumstances and the employer’s position. We can review the proposed agreement, discuss your priorities and advise on the options before approaching your employer on your instructions.
Is this settlement agreement calculator free to use?
Yes. You can use the calculator to obtain an illustration without entering your contact details. If you choose to discuss your settlement illustration, you will be taken to our contact page and can submit your details with your calculator answers.
How the illustration works
The calculator combines estimated notice pay, holiday pay, any statutory redundancy estimate and an illustrative salary loss amount. All figures are gross, before tax. It does not assess your evidence, eligibility for claims or prospects of success.
What salary loss assumptions are used?
If no new job has been found, the standard model uses 4 to 6 months of salary loss after the notice period covered in the package. Selecting disciplinary action uses a lower 2 to 4 month modelling allowance for dismissal risk. These are calculator assumptions, not legal rules or researched predictions of how long you will be out of work. A disciplinary allegation does not prove misconduct or justify a lawful dismissal.
If you have found a new job, the model adds no future salary loss. A delayed start or a lower salary can still cause losses and needs individual advice. The other situation boxes identify topics for review and do not automatically increase the estimate.
Is the result a fair offer or a tribunal award?
No. Actual settlement value depends on the claims, evidence, likely losses, legal limits and negotiation. This illustration does not calculate tax, pension loss, injury to feelings, share awards, enhanced redundancy or unpaid wages and bonuses. Taking advice is essential before relying on the total.
